  1. Aw! Brilliant! Poor Luce, what a mistake to make, but something to chortle over on every subsequent anniversary. So pleased for you both, and hope the surgery goes well.

  2. I’m so concerned that you are finding it difficult to perform household chores. I do hope that you are not living like a slattern! Let me know if you need me to pop round with my generic own brand supermarket rubber gloves on. I won’t do any cleaning but I won’t drop the bottle until we’ve drunk enough for you to refill your own. Or I could just come round and drink a glass out of every bottle you have? God I’m such a good friend I even humble myself. Get well soon.

  3. Loved the post. Rather reminded me of my old Dills, who was rescued for a “couple of hours” till I gave his owners a stern talking to / went back to rescue centre; and ended up staying for 5 years. I loved him to bits.

  4. When I saw your Honey, I did a double take. She could be a twin to my Holly. She was assumed to be part Labrador Retriever and part German Shepherd. Like your Honey, she was all about the food. The post Christmas photo of her sprawled on the couch looked so familiar. Unfortunately, I lost her this past April and so far have not been able to bring myself to get another dog. This is unusual for me. I have rarely been without a dog even as a child. I much prefer them to most people. Your reminder that one is waiting right now has gone to my heart, so I think I will be going to the shelter soon. Thanks!

  5. I loved your blog Sam. I git my handsome Dino from there so it brought back many memories. He been there 7 months…overlooked as ‘just another brindle staffy’. He’s my heart and soul and he’s welcomed mini Cara staffy with open paws after being an only dog for 7 years.
Honey sounds like a real character and you clearly adored each other. Looking forward to part 2 xx

  6. This made me sob, but it also shows how special humans get the special dogs they deserve. With all our love Karen, Darcey and Milo xxxx

  7. Well, then. I now have confirmation that I rock…but I knew this πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ What a time you and Luce have had! Glad you’re still able to laugh, Sam, but we both know it’s more fun than crying, yeah? From one back pain sufferer to another, best of British on your op! Maybe mine will be good and all and we will be leading the conga lines at our respective Christmas office parties this year, ha ha! Good luck!

  8. OK, I feel a tad guilty for tipping a butterfly, that had been asleep on my unopened curtains for months, out the window at Christmas. Greta will be coming for me! Also, during my year in the States, Sister needed something from a shelf above my bed. It may have had one less slat when I came back, right where the mattress could suck me into hell. It was like quicksand. I got a Β£99 quid new frame, with a free mattress, which I’ve added mattress toppers to over the years, so I’m totes Princess & the Peaing 😊

    1. We did the topper thing too, but my back could princess/pea no longer, so now we are skint… on the plus side, I am less of a grumpy twat in the mornings and the Staffington twins are very comfortable indeed, so I’m saying it was money well spent!

  9. It looks like I was hovering, waiting for a post… πŸ™„ I did learn stuff about you! Your encyclopedic knowledge of music now makes sense! Don’t forget, you also made cats 😊

  10. Had to reset my password for this comment, and I will NEVER remember what to. Anyhoo, I LOVE Siouxie’s hands. Now wasn’t that worth it? πŸ™„

    1. Thank you! I have to do the password thing on the regular. I tried ‘reviewing’ them with a Google password check that helpfully informed me I should be concerned for the security of my Friends Reunited account….🀣

  11. Great news that you have a date for your operation and you are doing amazingly well to keep everything else moving too with work. Such fantastic artwork!

    1. Thanks Lizzie! Some days I feel like superwoman and other days remind me that I’m really (really!) not, but I think I’m finally heading in the right direction! πŸ™‚

  12. Really looking forward to seeing all your 100women in song in one place. I must be getting old (72) but find Instagram increasingly confusing when trying to group images together to see what folks have been up to.

    1. Thank you! I don’t think it’s helped that I’ve been so busy drawing that I’ve been very bad at social media recently… I’m really looking forward to putting the gallery together!

    1. Yep. I was proper fumin’. Luce let me rage, poured me beer and ordered takeout. She even spoke to the appointment booking bloke for me so I wouldn’t end up being banned from the hospital… πŸ™„

  13. If I had your artistic skills, Sam, I would happily chuck mine out the window πŸ˜‚ And yes, it beggars belief they would schedule your op before attaining said MRI. It’s sort of like my doctor going ahead and scheduling my op although after a thorough psych eval saying I shouldn’t have the op. Long story. But he isn’t my doctor anymore. And DPD… Don’t get me started πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Fab blog by the way!

    1. Thank you! I knew it was all going too well… It’s lucky we thought to ring and chase the MRI or I imagine I would have shown up for surgery and been told to go home, which would not have ended well for anyone concerned!

      1. No it wouldn’t have. Clearly they have no idea what having a cross ‘weasel on their hands would be like. I don’t fancy their chances πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

  14. Thanks so much! This is something I’ve been meaning to do for years and a project I’ll keep come back to. One of the things I really enjoy about it is that it means I occasionally get to talk to like-minded artists and music lovers!

  15. I’m totes thinking you need to edge the wallpaper art with gold paint to perfect your installation pieces. Glad your head is roughly held up without scaffolding x

  16. I thought you were going to share a picture of your magnificent coleus, gorwing towards the light =D
